Understanding about Glass Treads
There is an old saying, "Knowledge is
power," that seems to sum up the philosophy here at Jockimo,
Inc. We believe that in order to choose the very best glass flooring
and glass
steps, you need to learn as much information as
possible about the product. So, to help you understand glass
treads, Jockimo, Inc. would like to provide you with the following
glossary of terms commonly used when describing this advanced
architectural design element:
- annealed - glass that has not been strengthened and is therefore
considered a hazard for architectural uses
- tempered - glass that has been "toughened up" or strengthened
- laminated - glass that has been treated to hold together even
when breakage occurs
- polished - glass that has been ground flat to a smooth, clear
finish
Choose the Best Glass Spiral Treads
At Jockimo, Inc., our glass treads always begin
with tempered - or strengthened - layers. These lites are then
laminated together for optimal safety. Finally, the edges are
polished all together to give the glass spiral treads a neat,
clean, even edge. In fact, Jockimo, Inc. is the only manufacturer
who adheres to this extremely high standard when creating glass
spiral treads.
Never Settle for Inferior Glass Flooring
Some architectural glass floor manufacturers
start with annealed layers. They may try to tell you that, once
these annealed panels are laminated together, they are safe to
use in building and design. Do not believe them. Your safety
is much too important.
Other manufacturers start with tempered lites.
However, they polish them before they laminate them together. This
can result in an uneven, jagged edge. While not necessarily unsafe,
these treads are certainly not as attractive as they could be.
At Jockimo, we are committed to excellence, and
thus we use only methods that ensure the safest and most beautiful glass
flooring. You don't have to settle for an inferior architectural
product. You can expect the best quality and workmanship when creating glass
stairs and other glass products from Jockimo, Inc.
